REDESIGNING THE PORT DISTRICT
Izmir, Turkey, 2001
The concept of the proposal is based on the scenario of creating a new urban center for Izmir. The whole region is divided in two smaller aresa providing all the uses assigned to new age urban centers business related, commercial and cultural. Each one of the new areas is defined and marked by 'urban corridors', linear agglomerations of movement and facilities that 'comb' through the urban district bringing people from inland to the sea. Every corridor's termination in the waterfront is marked with a light symbol of trans-local reference.
