SUMMER HOUSE
Andros Island, Greece, 2003
The house complex consists of four independent buildings, meeting the needs of a family's holiday house. The principal synthetic gestures were dictated by the need to adjust properly to the physical intensity of the site, its rough rocky nature and the broad view to the port. They led to a discreet, linear set of buildings alongside the contour lines. The articulation of the four separate single storey buildings allows for their optimal adaptation on the steep landscape. The complex's strict geometry and the design discipline follow the local idiom. Construction methods are deployed respecting local craft skills.
