KINGDOM HALL OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES, XMIE
Athens, Greece, 2000
A four storey building is designed with intentional simplicity as a monolithic volume distinctively dominating urban space. Linear vertical lighting slots reverse the marble's weight in space, allowing optimal lighting conditions for the inside and the outside. The rhythmic effect achieved through the use of successive openings secures privacy and discretion for its users. The subtle undulation of the overall form generates a dynamic, robust, but yet still refined architectonic volume, in a constant dialogue with light
