NEW BUILDINGS FOR THE DEMOCRITUS UNIVERSITY OF THRACE
Alexandroupolis, Greece, 1998
The complex is located along the trace of a potent synthetic axis, which connects the separate functional parts with a singular line of unobtrusive movement. The two, V-shaped faculty buildings, the main services building and the indoors gym are all functionally suspended along the axis. This regulating line is materialized as a network of successive spaces, whether covered, semi-open or totally open. The complex attains a visual continuity, while at the same time providing clear points of reference and orientation to the campus and the city.
